Saturday Night Treat

Hello everybody! I am so sorry that I have not posted anything for the past two Sundays. Hopefully, I will have something more exciting going on and can post about it. Yesterday, my family and I spent the day cleaning and organizing. As the holidays are approaching, that means that guests and family will soon be approaching as well. After a days work, we all were in need of something sweet but didn't have anything around and didn't want to run out and pick something up. So I looked at what we had in the pantry and with some modifications, came up with some simple and quick apple turnovers. The pictures aren't very good quality so I hope my recipe will be helpful.
Simple Apple Turnovers (makes 4)

Ingredients
-1 package of Pillsbury Original Crescents
-1 can of Apple Pie Filling
-1 tbsp of cinnamon
-unsalted butter

Directions
-Preheat oven according to directions on the back of your Pillsbury Original Crescents (typically 375).
-Rub a large baking sheet with butter. I would usually just line it with aluminum foil but we ran out.
-Open up your Pillsbury Original Crescents and place them on your baking sheet (for this next portion, you can use your baking sheet as your work surface).
-Take two of your crescents (two triangles of dough) and pinch them together so that they form a rectangle. Be sure that you pinch them together well! If this step is not done well, the seam will split in the oven.
-Spoon out some apple pie filling onto each of your four rectangles (only spoon onto half of dough). I did about two spoonfuls on each.
-Sprinkle some cinnamon over your pie filling.
-Fold dough over pie filling to match up edges.
-With a fork, press the edges and corners of dough together.
-Using the same fork, gently poke holes in dough so that steam can release in the oven.
-Bake in oven for 20 minutes or until the crescents are golden.
-When turnovers are out of the oven, you can either dish up some vanilla ice cream or if you don't have any, mix together powdered sugar and water or milk to create a glaze.
-Enjoy!

I hope this recipe comes in handy! It was a quick dessert that worked for my family so I hope it works for you too. I definitely wish we had ice cream last night! Nothing goes better than pie and ice cream! But we made do.

Enjoy your Sunday and this coming Thanksgiving week! Expect a post next Sunday!
